Race Week

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Well today is the first day of race week.  Also the first day of summer, the first day of my new blog (ah second day but whatever).

Anyway, I did a 5k today, WOW, I had to look twice and today absolutely qualifies as a milestone.

Time: 35:05

To put that into perspective, the fastest I ran the 5k (3 laps which is more than 5k not a real 5k) prior to today was 36:37.  How the heck did I shave off over 1 and 1/2 minutes off my time.  Absolutely freaking incredible.  I bet if I could breath a little better I would have cracked 35 minutes.

Workout

Tomorrow I will run a Two Lap and do my normal chest workout.

Wednesday I will do a 30 minutes on the treadmill and try to top 500 calories.  Then some arm workouts.

Thursday evening will be an easy 1 lap, and 1 walk.

Still Busy

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Forgot to post on time.  Real post time is 12:31 AM.  Will roll back time by an hour.

But I did run a 5k today.  Pretty decent time too.  I started off with my son but I eventually overtook him.  He seems to take the hare approach and I the tortoise.

Time: 36:52

So much things to do.  Kind of overwhelmed.  I need some time off.  It is comnig soon.

Pretty good time despite apathy

I tried that noxplode drink before I ran this afternoon.

It was interesting in that my legs did push but my head was not in it.  In the end though, my 5k was alright.

Time: 36:55

Afterward I did another 1/2 lap and a walk and a 1/2 with my son.  Not bad.

Woohoo First Race

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Was pretty exciting.  I did not do well compared to others but I did run better than a 10 minute mile.

Here are  the stats

My 5k Time

A little disappointing but OK

I placed 421th out of I dunno how many, I think 700.  My number was 27, I placed 43rd out of 54 in my age group, My chip time was 30:34 which is when I crossed the Start Line to When I crossed the finish line, my gun time was 31:13 which was when the gun was fired to when I crossed the finish line.  My pace was 9:52 which I am really happy with.

I may be disappointed when I compare myself to others, but I am happy when I look at the progress I made.  I could not do this a year ago.  I recall running the third runway at Seatac and barely finished.

Couple things I did right,

  • I got there early enough to prepare mentally, but not too early to tire myself out
  • Well hydrated
  • Slept Well
  • Had documentation and ID I needed
  • Bus route

Couple things need to remember for next time

  • Although I did pee before the race, maybe pee again
  • Got bus route home, but need better overall map
  • Take advantage of the where they hold the bags.

Some pics, I got more, but this is enough

Start 5k

Starting Line of the 5k

Got there early enough to take pictures of the starting point

RFID Tag

Tag to track progress

Got there early enough to get my shirt on and RFID tag.  Normally I would be doing this at home though.  But I was not in Seattle Saturday to pic up my race packet.

Finish 5k

I am at the 52 second mark, if you followed my blog you know what to look for.

Yeah this is this first image of me in my blog.

This was totally fun, after getting home, getting lunch and a little nap, I felt really really good.

Looking forward to the 1/2 Marathon, already feel butterflies in my stomach.

Wow, thought I did better

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Well, ran a 5k, based on the feel of the run I swear I thought I broke my record.  To my surprise I did not.

Pretty bummed.

Time: 37:35

Well, may next time.  But the rest was badly needed.  My psyche may have taken a hit, but my my physical being needed healing.

At least I proved my weight was an anomoly yesterday.

Thinking I could go faster

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Still dread my workouts.  I wonder when this dread will stop because it sure hurts my desire.

Anyway, did pretty good regardless.  I ran a 5k in decent time.

Time: 36:41

5 seconds short of beating the record.

Tomorrow is a rest day, normally I take an easy run.  I think for my one lap, I am going to push… hard.

Interesting number for the weight.  I think this is the first time I hit it on the nose.

Ran a 5k

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

I think since I work from home on Mondays, I will shoot to run a 5k if weather permits.

It was pretty cold and windy today but dry,

I thought my time would have been worse but I think I did alright.  In fact I beat the last 5k time I ran which was 36:57.  So its a milestone.

Run: 36:37

Still feeling the effects of drinking too much.  Yesterday’s rest was needed,  I learn me lesson, no drinking till June 21 (the anniversary of this blog)

Finally, speaking of 5K
