Can still do a mile

I am started to feel the benefits of losing weight.  I notice yesterday that the Seattle hills aren’t as tough anymore.  I am not huffing and puffing so hard climbing them.  When I went running this morning I was concerned I could not run a mile, but I think I ran it faster than yesterday (mind you fast being relative).

What an increadible boost to my morale.  I could not believe it until I jumped on the scale.  In fact I had to weigh myself twice because I thought the scale was wrong.  I understand that I lot of it is the fluctiation of water, but still I will take this moment and smile.

Finally 1 mile

Well, it took me 9 days, but I am finally able to do 1 full mile run without walking. I did not run with the brace this morning but I did feel tightness, albiet slightly less than yesterday, in my left knee.

I only did 2 miles (1 mile run and 1 mile walk), but I will do a 2 mile walk this evening. Also catching the bus which adds another mile and 1/2 maybe even 2.

Hitting my head on some branches. I may bring clippers when walking this evening.

Survived the night

Last night we had a get together.  Yes there was a lot of food and some drinking.  I have to admit I did eat more than what I usually do and I also drank a lot.

Before I run I jumped on the scale and wow was I shocked, 297.  Anyway, I noted that a did drink nearly a liter of water.  So it could have been water weight.

I went for my run, I also want to note it is the first time I wore this new knee brace, and I could not run.   I had the knee brace on my left leg, and my left calf seemed much tighter than my right calf.    I did sweat more than usual though.

I may do a punishment run this evening, maybe I’ll call them equalizers like the exercise we did in high school where the final conditioning workout was inverse to the days practice.  The better the practice, the less painful the conditioning workout.  It is my wife and I’s 12th anniversary, so we may go out.

When I got back I did my official weigh in.

After one week…

So I weighed in again, its been seven days, and I am at 292.2.

Yeah it is a .2 gain from yesterday.  But I did have a decent sized plate of spaghetti.  Still got to eat.  Two Saturdays from now, I will be disappointed if I am not below 290 permanently.

Although I am running 1/2 mile and walking 3.5, the main mechanism for losing weight is limiting portion size.

This cold is slowing me down some.  I need to get it checked out Monday.

Woke up a little late. Left knee was hurting but I decided to do the entire 4 miles this morning. Also groggy from Benadryl last night. The run was more to wake me up.

Anyway things look good. Check it out

Weight 292.0 Nice.

I am optimistic now. If you factor in standard deviation I did lose a lb then. I know better though, the three week mark will be telling.

My buddy Nate took me on a tour of our workplace gym. I must say was impressed.

So I signed up today, I think I’ll get a better workout this winter with the gear there.

Lost weight with this before. I stopped cause I wasn’t sure of what it was doing to my body. Pretty sure this is just caffeine

Wow hit the plateau already?!?!? Probably not, but weight is still at 295.4.

I know I am not at the Max of this scale. I think its 350 also I jumped on it with something heavy and it did register more weight.

I split my workout again.

One long run today

A day after I said I will split my workouts, I go ahead and do a 4 miles in the morning.

Shoulder hurts, not sure why, also I think a cold is creeping in. I need to squash it with OJ.

Weight: 295.4 Yay went down a tick. But still within deviation.
