Tracking my food consumption

Monday, November 30th, 2009

I am starting to track my food consumption on this web page
http://www.thedailyplate.com/

It is an interesting site with its own blog and community.  It does like nice and in a way I wish I started there.  But not to worry I will not abandon this blog till its done (June 2010).

I have to come up with a new workout schedule.  Here is what I was thinking

Monday – Walk 2 laps, Aerobic Exercise
Tuesday – Run 2 laps, Gym Workout
Wednesday – 4 mile treadmill or street + 2 mile walk.
Thursday – Semi Rest Day, Run 1 walk 1
Friday – Run 2 Miles and Gym (or Aerobics)
Saturday – 4+
Sunday – 4+ or 2 lap plus weights at home.

Weight: 251.6

Odds finally caught up to me

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Went running in the dark tonight and stepped on something that tweaked my foot.   Guess with all the running in the dark I was bound to step on one of those pine cones and hurt myself.

It had the potential to really hurt me.  Also the swelling may appear tomorrow morning so I am not out of the woods yet.

Not as fast as I thought

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

The thing about keeping a blog is that I can go back and look at my performance.  I recall the times that I ran the 4+ under 46 minutes, but it was just last month that I cracked 50 minutes.

Also the past few 4+ times I did run it under 50 minutes.

So when I ran it 49:24 today, with some pretty long waits at the stop lights (3 of the 4) , I do not feel so bad.  Still a B effort.

Survived Thanksgiving and had a most excellent run

Friday, November 27th, 2009

So this is a late post.  This was actually done at 1AM Saturday morning.  I forgot to post cause I got busy.  Also am a little drunk 🙂  Will backdate this post.

Anyway, awesome awesome awesome run.  Recall my bes Two Laptop was just a shy above 25 minutes.  I cracked that record in an over the top way and bypassed the 24 minute mark completely and ran a 23:59.01.

Also, Thankgiving didn’t set me back as bad in the weight loss area.

Thanksgiving Day!!!!

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

So here it is, one of the most dangerous (weight gainwise) days of the year.  Today, culminates a pretty bad week, it started off Saturday with my parents coming in, then on Tuesday we had a birthday part, and today we have Thanksgiving.  In an attempt to balance out the day, I did have a decent workout yesterday, I skipped breakfast and lunch.  But I am prettysure today will be a calorie positive day.

But….

Today really illustrates that life is not all about losing weight.  I have to enjoy as well, and there was an attempt to balance out the caloric intake.

I ran a four plus today.  Time was decent, 47:07, I really thought I could break 45:00 today but I did not have it in me.  I think 45 minutes will be a boogeyman like 250lbs is as well.

Weight 251.8

Had a long workout in gym

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Had a decent, long workout in the gym today.  Tomorrow will be a big day, it is Thanksgiving.  I do want to enjoy myself, but I need to keep it real.

This is a late post, but will change stamp to match yesterday.

Heavy Party Week

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

This week is full of big meals.  This is probably a bigger week than the Christmas to New Years Week.

I will enjoy, but keep in mind my intake.

Today I tried to run but my back is tweaked and I have a hard time breathing.  Tonight I will put some tiger balm to see if I can work it out.

Went to dietician today

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I went to see a dietician today.  It was a real pleasure.  I learned quite a bit.

Here is Some Information I collected

My Cholestrol Info

April 09
Weight: 305
Cholestrol: 251
Triglicerides: 130
HDL: 59
LDL: 166

October 09
Weight: 257
Cholestrol: 213
Triglicerides: 85
HDL: 62
LDL: 134

From this information, she has determined that I have had good progress.   Of all the numbers only the LDL is of real concern.  It would be good if we can get it down to under 130, and even better if I can get it down to 100.

She said I should try to get my Fat grams down to 60 g. a day.  She also mentioned I could go to a site called Calorie King, to get nutritional information on what I eat.  I will begin tracking my weight next week.

I should get to a BMI of 19.5 to 25 and a fat percentage of 20 to 25.   The taping method should work best for my situation in calculating fat.

Finally she recommended F.I.T.T to break through my wall

F – Frequency, I work out 7 days a week with 2 of those days are double workouts.  In a way, I should reduce my workout to get rest.

I – Intensity, this is how hard I work out, she recommended hills and wind sprints.

T – Time, how long I work out.  I guess I could work out longer.

T – Type, moving from running to video workouts does change the type of workout.

Anyway, it was a good day.

I tried the Julian Michaels video again.  It does kick my butt.

Kicking myself a bit

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

I ran a Two Lap today plus added a lap walk.  Thing is I forgot to start my stopwatch before the run.  I felt like I was having a great run too.  I did time my second run and got 11:45, that is incredible.  If you double that it comes to 23:30 which easily beats my 25:01 record.  Oh well.

On another sad not, my weigh in is back above 250, so I have injured the 250 monster but not killed it.  It was a late weigh in and I did eat earlier today, still its an official weigh in.

My mom and step dad is visiting us and boy is she surprised.  Even my sister who has not seen me for a couple of weeks said she sees an improvment.  So I am happy with that.

The monster has been hurt

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

By monster I mean the 250 mark that has been oh so hard for me to break.  I will consider that monster killed if I consistently stay under 250 for 4 consecutive days one of those days being a weekend day.

I have to step back and look at the significance of this, the last time I was under 250 was before my youngest son was born.  That was over 3 years ago.

Recall that 243 was the lowest recorded weight I have had this century.  If I can make it past Thanksgiving (I will not lie to you I am going to enjoy it), I think I can crack 240 and be in the  high 230’s by end of year.  I got 6 weeks to do it.  Two pounds a week is absolutely doable.  December 20th does make the halfway mark, if I do make it to 235 by or on December 20th, I would be on track to reach 190 by June 20th.

Still I fear that the quick weight loss is behind me.  I have started getting myself taped.  I will shoot for a taping every Saturday.  This was done around midnight last night.

  • Neck:        17.5
  • Shoulder:    57.0
  • Bicep:        17.0
  • Forearm        12.0
  • Wrist        7.0
  • Chest:        50.5
  • Waist:        47.0
  • Hips:        45.5
  • Thigh:        27.0
  • Calf:        20.5

I ran a four+ today, time doesn’t look good but I did hit 4 major lights.  I was kind of glad to get them though.  I felt weak when I was running and needed those mini breaks, my time 49:41.
