Memorial Day

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Last day of taking it easy.

Went clamming at Birch Bay, and got back late.

Too late to work out.  Just did couple pushups and situps

Anyway, new week starts tomorrow, back to training.

Another weight anamoly, watch it drop again in a few days.

Weight: 258.2

Still Sore

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

At least I ran 1 lap and walked 1.  Hopefully I will regain full speed in a day or two more.

Weight is an anomaly, I am sure it is on the high end of what I usually weigh.

Weight: 254.8

Rest Day

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

For sure, just did some simple pushups, situps, curls, and arm extensions.

I woke up in the morning OK, but in the evening I started hurting.

Weight: 249.8

OMG

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Oh My God, I did it.

Within a year 1 went from 1/2 mile to 1/2 marathon

I just finished an incredible run

Here is the breakdown of my run

Start Time 3:45:00

  1. 4+ 48:44
  2. 4+ 52:26
  3. 4+ 56:40
  4. 1 lap 17:23.60

End Time: 6:42:11

I redid the gmap for the 4+ and 1 lap

Here is the 4+

FourPlus

Four Plus Route

Here is the 1 lap

OneLap

One Lap Around Renton Tech

So I ran the FourPlus 3 times and the One Lap once.

Here is what google says they are

GMAP Four Plus

gmaponelap

GMAP One Lap

 So (3 x 4.3) + 1.1 = 14 Miles

Start Time was 3:45:00 End Time was 6:42:11

If my math is right that is 2 hours 57 minutes 11 Seconds

Plug it into the calculator, 12.65 minutes a mile.  Look at that last lap though.  I was dying.

Glad I did it, I know I can finish the marathon.  Now I can just go back down to 8 miles a Satuday.

It is worthwhile noting, I am superexhausted right now, I had absolutely nothing left for that final mile.  Now that I am home, I barely can walk.  Tomorrow will be interesting.

Before the run I weighed in at 252 but I know what I lost was mostly water.

Milestone for Distance and for Weight

Weight: 243.8

Anxios but need to heal

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Did an easy 1 lap today.  Took a a while 15:04.49, I guess I could have gone faster.  But I know I have to rest my body for this massive run Saturday.  Also was going to walk another mile but mother nature likes to call on me at this time.

Weight: 249.2

For a weekday really pushed it

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

As usual, Wednesday is my 1000 calorie workout day.   But I did try a new supplement called NoXplode.  After my 1000 calorie workout I did some arm workouts because on Friday I will cut my gym workout short (not too short).

Anyway, I think it was the first time my arms cramped up.  Also, it was weird in that I wanted to actually workout more but my body was saying “enough already.”

Another factor was that I took the bus and that usually adds another 2 mile walk to my day.

Finally on top of that, I ran 1 lap with my son and walked another lap.

I should sleep well tonight.

Weight: 247.8

Could not run this morning

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Tried to run again, but stopped after a lap, not because I was lazy, but because I had to use the bathroom

Time: 14:27.47

Pretty lousy/

We’ll see what my endurance is tomorrow.

At least I still have gym tonight.

Weight: 250.0

Working out with my son

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Well today I was supposed to run a 5k but instead just ran a single lap because my son decided to run with me and he could not keep up.

Time: 12:26.11

Anyway, it was a good experience and I will try to find a way to make it work and still get my running in.

Still calling it a milestone.

I did feel like I am losing endurance.  We’ll see Wednesday if I still got it for the 1000 calorie workout.

Weight: 252.8

Woohoo First Race

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Was pretty exciting.  I did not do well compared to others but I did run better than a 10 minute mile.

Here are  the stats

My 5k Time

A little disappointing but OK

I placed 421th out of I dunno how many, I think 700.  My number was 27, I placed 43rd out of 54 in my age group, My chip time was 30:34 which is when I crossed the Start Line to When I crossed the finish line, my gun time was 31:13 which was when the gun was fired to when I crossed the finish line.  My pace was 9:52 which I am really happy with.

I may be disappointed when I compare myself to others, but I am happy when I look at the progress I made.  I could not do this a year ago.  I recall running the third runway at Seatac and barely finished.

Couple things I did right,

  • I got there early enough to prepare mentally, but not too early to tire myself out
  • Well hydrated
  • Slept Well
  • Had documentation and ID I needed
  • Bus route

Couple things need to remember for next time

  • Although I did pee before the race, maybe pee again
  • Got bus route home, but need better overall map
  • Take advantage of the where they hold the bags.

Some pics, I got more, but this is enough

Start 5k

Starting Line of the 5k

Got there early enough to take pictures of the starting point

RFID Tag

Tag to track progress

Got there early enough to get my shirt on and RFID tag.  Normally I would be doing this at home though.  But I was not in Seattle Saturday to pic up my race packet.

Finish 5k

The Finish Line

This was a welcome site.

I am at the 52 second mark, if you followed my blog you know what to look for.

Yeah this is this first image of me in my blog.

This was totally fun, after getting home, getting lunch and a little nap, I felt really really good.

Looking forward to the 1/2 Marathon, already feel butterflies in my stomach.

Warm up run for 5k tomorrow

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

So I am in Canada, I ran Central once, its a little more than 2 miles, also it was a bit modified due to some construction.

Looks like it was 2.5118

So says google

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3057584

Time: 26:29.50

I think I could have done better, wrong shoes, had to stop to tie them twice, also had to use bathroom.  Unlike at home where I have to run 2 laps and can “pinch it” if I needed to, I had to run the whole thing and get home so I can let mother nature to its thing.

No scale no weigh in.
