{"id":993,"date":"2010-05-09T22:30:14","date_gmt":"2010-05-10T05:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lazyplayer.com\/blog\/?p=993"},"modified":"2010-05-09T22:32:20","modified_gmt":"2010-05-10T05:32:20","slug":"excuses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lazyplayer.com\/blog\/?p=993","title":{"rendered":"Excuses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today is Mother&#8217;s day and I really did not have a good workout.\u00a0 I was going to do yoga but I got so busy during the day.\u00a0 So my lack of exercise is kind of bothering me.<\/p>\n<p>It shouldn&#8217;t, but let me explain why it does.\u00a0 For the past few weeks my buddy Rob has been bailing out on the workouts.\u00a0 I worry for him because we both signed up for a 5k, and although it is not much for me (amazing I can say that), I think he underestimates how far that is if you are out of shape.\u00a0 Anyway he has been coming up with 1 excuse after another.<\/p>\n<p>So I come to my dilemma, how do I determine when I am full of it myself and when I do indeed need to either take a break or simply don&#8217;t have time.<\/p>\n<p>I think the thing to say up front what are valid excuses for not working out<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Injury and Sickness &#8211; I think those are the only ones for sure I got a pass on.<\/li>\n<li>Worked out too hard and need to heal &#8211; Sometimes, the body just needs rest.\u00a0 If I have worked out for more than two hours the day before, then I get a pass.<\/li>\n<li>Run\/Race Major Athletic Event &#8211; Anything 5k or more the next day that is official, then I get a rest day to prepare for it.<\/li>\n<li>Timezone change &#8211; Weird, rarely happens but it does, when I travel to Philippines I almost lose a day.<\/li>\n<li>Weekend getaway\/Trip where there is a strict schedule &#8211; Like Linuxfest or a seminar.<\/li>\n<li>Work related emergency &#8211; Example is the fire at work.\u00a0 Yeah I get a pass on that one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Excuse I cannot use<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Busy &#8211; Never an excuse, unless there is a schedule of events where I have less then 10 hours of time after.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So there you have it, we will see.<\/p>\n<p>As for today, it was busy, but the reason I need to rest is the huge run I had yesterday and the vigorous yard work yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Oh yeah as an off topic side note.\u00a0 Today is Mother&#8217;s day, I wish My Mom, Wife, and Mother In Law, Happy Mother&#8217;s day.<\/p>\n<p>My wife wanted some bark to pretty up our property.\u00a0 So I purchased 10 cubic yards and as a joke put a sign up that this is her Mother&#8217;s day gift.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_995\" style=\"width: 458px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lazyplayer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/2010-Mothers-Day-Gift.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-995\" class=\"size-full wp-image-995\" title=\"2010 Mothers Day Gift\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lazyplayer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/2010-Mothers-Day-Gift.jpg\" alt=\"Mother's day gift\" width=\"448\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-995\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Barkpile = Doghouse<\/p><\/div>\n<p>And before the Internet changes things, this is Medium bark, not Steer&#8230; er&#8230; fertilizer.<\/p>\n<p>She can take a joke.
