Once again shoes makes a difference.

Friday, April 30th, 2010

These new shoes aren’t the greatest and they are showing it.  But the fact is these shoes did improve my running.  Just not as dramatic as the last new pair.

Time was decent
Run: 24:59.29

Just a hair below 25 minutes.  I think if I stretched out my plantar faciatis, my time would have been much better.  It was not until halfway through the first lap that my foot finally stretched itself out, by then I was 30 maybe 40 seconds behind my normal time.

Anyway, this is a morning post, still got my evening workout at the gym.  Also this weight is official, still pretty good.

Need New Shoes Bad

Monday, April 26th, 2010

I started my run today at lunch thinking I could make it a 5K.  After the first mile though my legs were shot.  I was running a erally good pace too so it did not feel like an endurance issue.

But I know this is about that time to replace my shoes.  I may go for a cheaper brand then get a good brand a week before the 5K which will give me time to break the good pair in time for the 1/2 marathon.

A 5k in May

Monday, April 19th, 2010

My buddy Rob told me of his plans to run a 5k in May.  I may join him and consider it a “Warm Up” for the Half Marathon in June.

So today I thought I would try a 5k for fun.  Basically I added another lap to my two lap.

My two lap was 24:14.45, pretty good.  But I think I was conserving some of it for the 3rd lap.

My overall time was 36:57, which is less than a 12 minute mile because a lap is about 1.1 miles.

We’ll see it is on May 23.  I hope my older son or my wife will join me.

Speaking of running, it is becoming clear I have to run greater distances to make it for the half marathon.  I have Linuxfest this weekend and will schedule longer running after that.

Emotion Sure Does Help

Monday, April 12th, 2010

I won’t go into it in detail but sometimes people say things that just piss you off.

I don’t know if it was the coffee or the harassment, but boy did I feel like running today.  One of the reasons I run is to blow off steam, and blow off steam I did, on my way to a new record.

I started of with a warm up lap then actually did my timed two lap and finished with another lap walk.  It helped.

Time: 23:34.72

After my run I was not so tired, but emotionally was more controlled.

Wow, side note about my weight:  It is staying down.

Wow, nailed it

What an Easter Gift.

I am getting faster.  Also I think a warm up walk of 1 lap does the trick.

A new 2 lap record.  I really did feel my legs flying

Two Lap: 23:37.72

What a super run.  I was breathing well (thanks to a generic claritin) and I wasn’t too tired from yesterdays excellent run.

At first I was getting nervous cause I felt some pain in my left foot creeping in.  Still this is official and a record.

Another cool thing today is I can eat meat again.

As for the weightm 1 more day then I am officially under 250.

Oxygen, Need Oxygen

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Weird, I been noticing something new, I feel like my lungs aren’t adsorbing the same amount of oxygen it has been.

I have an asthma inhaler and I am wondering if it will help.

Recall that yesterday I lost some stamina towards the end, also I have never had problems in while climbing up stairs.

This is an interesting new developement that I think is fixable.

Today I ran kind of late like I usually do, but it is so nice that the sun is once again giving us more daylight:

My time was alright, 24:34.96

Pushing it good

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

I ran two laps today and made some pretty good time.  Check out my clock, 23:59.98

Watch at Almost 24:00

Almost passed 24 minutes

I guess there is a fine line between almost made it and just made it.

I am also surprised with my weight.

Awesome run today

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Today I really kicked it into gear.  If there was any doubt that I am not back, today wiped it out.

I ran two laps today in near record time.  I don’t think it is a record, but sure as heck close.  My time 23:51.76

I think I was a wee bit faster, by a second or so.  But I did not fully depress the stop button on my watch in time.

Weight also not too shabby.

Left Leg giving trouble

Monday, March 1st, 2010

I ran a Two Lap this morning.  I thought I was going to do better than what I did. 26:05.47 is certainly OK in my shape, but I could do better.

I think now the problem is in my left leg NOT my left foot.  It does not hurt or anything like that, I feel like it is out of shape and slowing me down.  I would say that my left foot is now healed, but strength, endurance, and speed is lacking in my left foot.

As each week goes by, the pain gets less and less, and right now the plantar fasciiitis in my right foot is more of a burden in short runs (less than 3 miles) than my left foot.

If this evening is nice, I will do another lap run and walk.

Good Time Today

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

If there was any indicator that I am getting back to form it is from today’s run.  I have to still note that my foot still hurts but I was able to get in a pretty decent run.  The last time I ran this route was December 1, almost 3 months ago, and my time was 24:47.61.  Today is nothing to be ashamed of, 25:43.59.

I want to claim that I am up to speed again, but that wouldn’t be entirely true.  Also like I mentioned earlier, I am not 100%, more like 90%. I am thinking of doing a 2 lap again tomorrow, but I don’t think it will be as fast.

Weigh in was late again, so it is elevated.
