Been busy lately

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Man its been a tough week.  I alot of things happened at work.  At home we have a leak in the basement and that has to be fixed.  This server that hosts this blog needs a serious upgrade.

Also the least heat wave has uncovered some vulnerabilities.

I had a late workout today, so I could take care of some those items

Still had a decent run.  There still a lot of work to do though.   After todays weigh in I think I can make my goal of being under 270 before my aunt gets back and being at 265 before the NFL football season starts.

Another Late and Tired Morning

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Man what is up with my energy level lately.  Anyway I feel a little burnt out.  I forgot to set alarm again and woke up late.

I did a 1 mile jog, pretty slow too, then walked a mile.

I still got gym and my evening walk today.

Getting dark… waking up later… need to run faster

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

As the year moves on and summer turns into fall, there is less daylight.

So I am faced with a challenge, I have less light when running in the morning.  I may have to run with a reflective vest and flashlight.  My 1 mile route is decently lit and I have run it in the dark at night.

Or I can run faster during the daylight.

We still have not reached fall equinox, so there still is light.

On another note… I am running 2 miles not just run1 walk 1.  I have not committed to it being the norm yet.  Maybe in September or when I crack 270 on a steady basis.

Speaking of weight…

Late Post

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Not sure what happened yesterday.  I am pretty sure I did a post.  So although I technically posted this Aug 13th.  This is a weigh in for Aug 12.

Anyway, I worked out yesterday morning in the office rather near home because it was raining.  So my weigh in was before my workout.

Weight: 277.8

Taking a break

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

I’m more than a little burned out and I need some rest.  The previous night I only had 2 hours of sleep and I know it is affecting my work.

Its also raining.

Starting to sound like I am coming up with excuses, but once again life happens.  Also I am still going to the gym after work.

Survived another weekend

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Not sure if this is a trend and I will have to look back at the history.  But it sure does seem like I gain weight on the weekends.

It could be that Friday’s is a triple workout and the scale is skewed a bit.

Anyway, I am still running below 280.

Let’s see what happens during the course of the week.

Celebrated last night

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

I am not too surprised at the weight today.  I did run a 1+3 today and will walk another mile or 2 tonight.

Last night my son came home with some awesome food from Hawaii so I had to take advantage of that.

Well, I knew I was going to pay for it on the scale.  It is a late weigh in.  Here it is

Just messing around when I came across this gem

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

So I was doing some housecleaning (IT housecleaning not house housecleaning) when I came accross a simple text document dated 9/7/2007 called Weight.txt.  It is an old notepad document Pre Blog for me where I did keep a track of my weight.

Boy was it interesting and it kind of hits me in the gut because it puts some of my weight gain in the past couple years into perspective.

I can only assume that the first entry is Oct 20, 2005.  I weighed in at 275, which is what I am today.  So based on this time timeable, I can lose another 25 pounds in about 2 more months, that will land me early October.  Hopefully I can trim another 25 lbs by Christmas which will put me at my goal of 225 before end of year.

Couple intersting things that this data has shown…

  • Things happen that affects my schedule… sickness, birth, camping, and classes.
  • The next bogeyman is 250.  This chart never shows me breaking 250.
  • I’ve shown I can keep a record for at least 7 months.  This blog does have a lifespan of about a year.
  • Two months in I flatten out and stay flat for a month, then it starts creeping up.
  • Finally, this small text file tells a huge story but no details.   I think this blog is the way to go.

Here it is:

Two New Records

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

First off I ran a 1+3, but of course this time it is mostly run.  I think of the 4 miles I walked less than half.

My time for the run was a record.  My fastest time before today was 59 minutes.  Today I checked my BB before my run and it said 8:33, elso note that I did hit a bunch of stop lights and a hat to stop to tighten my shorts.  But when I was done, I checked my BB and it was 9:28, so 55 minutes is the new record.  Woohoo.

Also remember this post

It’s about me hitting some goals before he comes back and he comes back today.  I said I wanted to be under 280 before he got back, I did that last week before I went to Canada.  I also said it would be nice if I was 275.  So without me sweat drenched shirt I was 274.2 (which is unofficial).  Check it out….

Shaved my head

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Last night my wife reluctantly shaved my head.

Why did I have this done?  Couple reasons:

  1. More aerodynamic when I run
  2. Sweat evaporates better
  3. Less time to get ready in the morning
  4. Most important – It’s freaking hot.

Anyway, tried my new doo this mornings run.   Head felt lighter.
