Getting faster on road as well

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

I ran the two lap this morning.  I can’t stress how dark it is.  Lucky my route has enough lighting that it makes it OK.  At least it wasn’t raining and not that cold.  My time was a record 25:01.56.  I just needed to kick it into gear just a tad then I would have made a new record.  I might as well start recording this run.

Will do gym workout this evening as well.

Here is my weight.  Note how much I lost in a couple of hours.  The last weigh in was about 8 hours ago.

Weight: 255.8

Doing a weight test

Monday, November 9th, 2009

So I kind of wanted to test something out.  I want to prove that you can rig the weigh in so that you can lose more than 5 lbs in a week.

How am I doing this?  Today is Monday and I am weighing in at night, after dinner, hours from my workout.  I am wearing only three pieces of clothing as usual and I have not tampered with the scale.  I did drink a bunch of water so you can say I am really hydrated.

I will compare my weight against a Saturday weigh in.

On another note, I ran on the treadmill today, I had a most excellent run.  I actually ran at 6 MPH consistently.  I probably could have run the entire thing at 6 MPH.  The run alone burned 315 calories in 15 minutes.  I then did the bike for 20 minutes and burned another 265 calories.

I had a light breakfast consisting of oatmeal, yogurt and an apple.  Lunch was 1/2 a Subway foot long sandwhich.

Dinner was Chicken Papaya Soup w/ rice.

Weight 258.4

A lot of stuff to do

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

I just ran a mile and walked a mile.  I was up last night working on some things and time just flew by.

Next thing I new it was 8AM.

Anyway, just got done.  Hopefully tomorrow I will be up for my run.

And more running in the rain… worse

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

This is probably the worst rain I have run in.   The rain should have slowed me down, I was cold, my feet was sweating, still I made record time.

Time 45:07

Also added a milestone category.

Really disappointed in my weight.  That 250 truly is a beast to be reckoned with.  An seemingly insurmountable mountain.  I need to destroy it.

Posted this Sunday, came back from my run and noticed I did not hit publish.

Running in the rain

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Today I ran in the wettest conditions I have run in so far.  It was also dark, so I ended up running only 1 mile and walking 1.  At first, I was questioning the sanity of running in the rain, at night, in the cold.  But as weird as that may seem, when I was running, I felt at peace.

Anyway, tomorrow is a big day, I will tackle the 4+ and hopefully, from a long shot, crack the 250 mark.  I must admit that today’s weigh in makes it highly unlikely.  Worse, my wife and kids come home today and I am sure the will be bringing some delicious food.

Almost back to normal schedule

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Tomorrow night my life should begin to return back to a normal routine when my wife returns with our younger kids.

It will be awesome, my oldest son and I miss them a lot.  Hopefully my workout schedule will return to normal and I can begin eating healthy again.

I picked up some pretty bad habits while she was gone like snacking late at night, and eating junk food.  Also my workouts were a lot shorter so I can tend to maintenance stuff like cooking and shuttling my son to school.

My run today was pretty good, I did a 2 lap + 1 for a walk.  My 2 laps came out to 24:53.41

Feeling guilty

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

So I haven’t been into the gym at work for a while.  My buddies Nate and Oscar were asking me why and I began feeling guilty for not going.  Life happens and the schedule I have affects my workout pattern.  With my wife and younger kids gone for 2 and a half weeks, it gets tough.

I do continue to run outside, but as it gets dark and cold, it gets harder.  Today, I ran 1 mile and walked 1, and for some strange reason, some kids in a car felt the need to heckle me while I was running.

But I do have hope for humanity.  Yesterday my story with a link to this blog was posted on the corporate intranet site, I thought it was going to be placed in the public blog but I was surprised to see it on the front page.  It is a good thing because I have seen a lot of responses, it is good.  It inspires me profoundly and I hope it reciprocates and people find inspiration from me.

As for the heckling and the guilt, I don’t let it get me down.  I use it to fuel my determination more.

Finally a note on the weight, I can feel oh so close to breaking 250.  Recall in this old post

I mentioned that 250 was a bogeyman, some great wall that will be difficult to overcome.

Which had me down to my lowest point, 243 lbs, that was recorded since I moved to Washington.  That was in March 2 of 2002.   In 2002, I do recall cracking 240 briefly, but that was not recorded.

I recall this post three weeks into this blog.

Wow that was so far away.

Too Dark

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I had a good run today but it was short.  I wish I could have gone longer but it is getting too dark.

The route I run is dark luckily not too many cars cross my path.  But the sidewalk does get uneven.  Don’t forget about the cold weather too.  So I have to limit my run time, I did make good time 24:23.08, which beats my Sunday run time.  What can’t be seen is that I started the run slow with more pain than usual in my food.  I did work it out and felt good.

As for my weight…. so close.  That 250 wall is staring at me.  But I got a feeling in a week or two it will be broken and by Thanksgiving, I will be able to say I lost 50 lbs. (Side note, I already have lost more than 50 lbs but I am marking it from 295 when I started the blog, so I have lost 40 lbs from then.  Also the 305lbs I site is from my April 2009 Doctor’s visit)

So much things to do

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

I have been pretty stressed the past week or so.  Fortunately my wife returns  this weekend.

I only ran 1 lap and walked 1.  It was already pretty dark.  I needed a break, hence the quick post.

Got some new gear, motivated big time

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

I went back to the Fleet Feet Shoe store and got a new pair of shoes.  I did not know that buying new equipment could actually be motivating.  I had a really good 2 mile run (24:45.00).  I also walked 1 mile.

New Gear

I also got reflective gloves because I feel like people don’t see me when they are driving.  Matches the color of my pee when I take my multivitamin.

Recall that couple posts ago that my shoes have had it.  You can see the worn heel on the outside of the shoe.

Worn Shoe

Finally, you should see my weight.  Ten days too late.  Anyway, that is motivating even more.
