Drinking add’s some pounds

Yesterday I had a few drinks during happy hour with my coworkers.  Today, I see the damage not in my constitution but in my weight.

Last time I drank I gained weight too.  A glass of wine did not do it though.

But the weight could be attributed to the light drizzle that was landing on my shirt while I ran.

I do have gym and another 2 miles to go today though.  So I will sweat it out over the next 24 to 48 hours.

At awe, can’t really think of much to say.

You know I can’t believe this, in a way I am shocked.  Right now I don’t know what to say.   Today marks the last day of the 2nd month I started training, and I cracked the 270 mark.  Barely, but it is official.

So here’s a little known thing I haven’t mentioned.

Since Jan 1st, 2002 I have only missed 1 day of working out.  But the lower end workouts were simply pushups and situps.  My oh my how long this has been.

January was what I would call the initiation month.  This month my body creaked and did not want to move.  I had to break down barriers of lazyness.  Luckily I did.  They say after 3 weeks it becomes routine, I can confirm this.  After 4 weeks 1 mile is nothing.  Although weight loss was not spectacular, my level of workout increase was.  At the end of the month 1000 Cal per day is achievable.  Combined with my BMR of about 2300, I can eat comfortably and still lose weight.

February I began the month great, I was really cranking out the calories.  My endurance was high, unfortunately I tapered off towards the end.  This can be catogrized as the endurance month.  I would like to reclaim that 1000 Cal per day goal again.  During the month of March though, I would like to increase my speed.

 Recall in my last unofficial post I was 268.  Man I got a LOOONG way to go.

This is a late post but I just finished a 1+3 where I actually ran 2 miles.  It’s also been a rough day where I hardly ate, I am tired from the workout and I am really thirsty.

But the worst part is looking at the scale… 268.8 WOW.  Amazing… but its unofficial and that is the worst part.

Bummer Overslept

Last night I drank some wine and woke up late this morning.  Maybe its a good thing, I needed the rest.

Anyway, I am gonna make it up tonight with a 1+3.   Also I am taking the bus to work which does add 2 more miles.

It is a bummer though, cause I have hit a record weight.

Nine days to trim some weight

I went for a normal 1 mile run plus a 1 mile walk this morning.  I have been feeling pretty lethargic lately.  

Anyway, my Aunt in law who was staying with us for a couple of months actually went to Toronto for a while to visit her sister.  She returns to the West Coast next week and I would like to be under 270 by then.  So I have nine days to lose 4 pounds.  That is a lot, I am not sure I can make it.

That is that is 14000 above what I consume.  If I burn 200 Calories per mile, I need to run a net of 70 miles to meet my goal.   Yikes. 

Luckily I can reduce what I eat to make my goal, I burn about 2500 cal per day.  If I eat only 1000 Calories per day then I can make it.   Er… that’s not going to happen.

I will have to Mix… 5 miles each day would be 1000 and I probably can stick to a 2000 calorie diet.

That should do it.  I already did 2 mile, I still got gym and my evening 2 mile walk for today.

Another run cut short

I need to learn to get to bed earlier and wake up earlier.  Then I think my body will to its thing earlier.  Just ran one mile cause I had to cut it short for the number one reason it does get cut short.  Need to use the bathroom.

Anyway, not too worried about my weight.  I had a late dinner, if it is not down to 274 by Thursday I will be concerned.

New Record

Wow three posts in one day.  Anyway this deserves one.  As I mentioned this morning I was going to do an evening run.  A normal 1+3, I think it may be inappropriate to call it that since I run pretty much most of the way now.  Anyway my record prior to today was 55 minutes.  I run it in 54 today.

I know its unofficial but I did weigh in when I got back and I weighed in at 274.0.

Decided to take a break from the morning workout today.  I will still do an evening or afternoon workout.

Try some new supplements

I have been juggling the thought of adding protein supplements to my diet and training and the last two gym sessions got me concerned because it showed my how weak I am.  The bench press and curls I been doing was pretty sad.  Also when on the drive home I noticed my arms are not quite shaking but they do feel weak, so my muscles are pretty torn and from what multiple sources (friends, coworkers, and relatives) I need to take a protein supplement to heal.

I am not sure if now is the time to introduce it, but another thing I been told is you need muscle to burn fat.  The concern that there is mixed feedback from people on if it would make me gain weight or not.

So I was thinking, why the hell not.  Hey this blog will track my usage and its results.  Hey, I have been taking the Lipo 6 and it looks like it is helping.

Off to GNC I went to get some information and to by a protein drink.  While I was there I was reminded that I needed some vitamins because I was running out of the one I was taking.

After a few minutes with the GNC associate I decided on on AMP (Advanced Muscle Performance) Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60.  It was kind of pricey compared to others so I also purchased a 2lb jar of GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein.

For vitamins a purchased Mega Men Sport Premium Performance Multivitamin.

I’ll be giving the AMP a try first.  What I purchased was simply a 1 week supply.  The directions say take 3 scoops in a 12 oz glass of cold water after my workout.  But the GNC associate said its OK to take 1 scoop instead.

So on my non-gym days I will take 1 scoop after my run.

On gym days I will take 1 scoop before and 1 scoop after my workout.

I’m guessing that will last me about 2 weeks depending on if I increase my anerobic workout.

After that is all consumed, I will switch to the cheaper stuff which both my wife and I share.  When that is all gone we will decide what to use moving forward.

I quick search on the Internet showed excellent reviews for the AMP.
