Woohoo First Race

Was pretty exciting.  I did not do well compared to others but I did run better than a 10 minute mile.

Here are  the stats

My 5k Time

A little disappointing but OK

I placed 421th out of I dunno how many, I think 700.  My number was 27, I placed 43rd out of 54 in my age group, My chip time was 30:34 which is when I crossed the Start Line to When I crossed the finish line, my gun time was 31:13 which was when the gun was fired to when I crossed the finish line.  My pace was 9:52 which I am really happy with.

I may be disappointed when I compare myself to others, but I am happy when I look at the progress I made.  I could not do this a year ago.  I recall running the third runway at Seatac and barely finished.

Couple things I did right,

  • I got there early enough to prepare mentally, but not too early to tire myself out
  • Well hydrated
  • Slept Well
  • Had documentation and ID I needed
  • Bus route

Couple things need to remember for next time

  • Although I did pee before the race, maybe pee again
  • Got bus route home, but need better overall map
  • Take advantage of the where they hold the bags.

Some pics, I got more, but this is enough

Start 5k

Starting Line of the 5k

Got there early enough to take pictures of the starting point

RFID Tag

Tag to track progress

Got there early enough to get my shirt on and RFID tag.  Normally I would be doing this at home though.  But I was not in Seattle Saturday to pic up my race packet.

Yeah this is this first image of me in my blog.

This was totally fun, after getting home, getting lunch and a little nap, I felt really really good.

Looking forward to the 1/2 Marathon, already feel butterflies in my stomach.
