Wanted to quit running this morning

Today is a double workout day.  Phase one is normally a 2 lap (about 2.3 miles) run.  But boy did I want to give up quickly.

  1. First off I was up late last night, I simply could not sleep.
  2. Second I was snacking late it night.
  3. Third, it was cold.
  4. Finally, it was dark.

So when I got up, I really wanted to just run 1 mile and be done with it.  I thought after the first lap I was going to be at over 15 minutes, but I was at 14:33 so I decided to proceed.   My pace picked up and I had an OK finish time of 27:34.

It confirmed two things I suspected:

  1. I am starting to want to quit, but still have will to overcome and not quit.
  2. Once my legs start warming up, I can run a decent speed.

Even after snacking last night I am still at a decent weight.  But if I am going to make my goal, I have to hit overdrive in my workout soon.

Weight: 256.2

Larry – Congratulations on your weight loss! Great job! Good for you for getting up this morning and working out, even though you didn’t want to do it. I get up early to work out and there are many mornings when I have to persuade myself to get out of bed. When this happens, I think the key is to recognize that you’ll feel this way sometimes and just get up anyway. Once you put your feet on the floor, get dressed and start running, you will likely finish your workout. Keep up the great work! – Traci Goodwin
