Long Canada 8 Mile Run

I’m in Canada again today, so I ran a similar route I have been running in the past.  This time I went a little farther.  I run Central Park twice and walked to a street called Naniamo and back to the starting point.

Google Pedometer says this was an 8.2336 mile route.  More than half was running because the run around central park was nearly 5 miles.  The segment from Naniamo and back was a walk.

Unfortunately I am not near my scale today.  I am pretty sure I knocked off some significant weight and would have been nice to see.

Speaking of weight, I am going to do a special post or even page regarding fluctating weight.

I wanted to document this, but I was on the treadmill for 20 minutes today and I set the resistance to 12.  With this setting I was able to burn 240  calories in 20 minutes.

So certainly the treadmill burns more, but the bike can work.

Well I worked out in the gym this morning.  I got up early, but forgot to weigh in.

Schedule is out of the norm for me.

Anyway… will weigh in tonight but will not be an official weight.

Side effects of the vitamins I am taking

I ran out of the Centrum multivitamin I was taking and started taking this newer multivitamin meant for male atheletes.

So let me start with the good

I feel better, I certainly feel sharper during the day.  During my workouts I feel I can go longer

No that bad

My pee… its green.  I stopped it for a day, and it returned to normal.  So it must be the vitamins.  I looked it up and got this page

“A brighter green color is an indication of an excess of B vitamins.”

Yup 3000% of daily requirements.

Its green like those chemical lights you use during Halloween.

The other side effect, I think it changes my body odor.  I know scent can be subjective, but I do feel stinker.

On a side note, those protein shakes I take,  I feel like they are helping.  But since I have started taking them I don’t think I lost a pound consistently.

But I am working out.  Ran that route around the park I mentioned about the last time I was here.  Did it twice.

So the entire workout was composed nearly 5 miles.

The interesting thing is that the route seems a lot easier to run then last time.  Can it be that my legs are truly getting stronger?  This is certainly proof that it is.

This is a late post but I just finished a 1+3 where I actually ran 2 miles.  It’s also been a rough day where I hardly ate, I am tired from the workout and I am really thirsty.

But the worst part is looking at the scale… 268.8 WOW.  Amazing… but its unofficial and that is the worst part.

Wow three posts in one day.  Anyway this deserves one.  As I mentioned this morning I was going to do an evening run.  A normal 1+3, I think it may be inappropriate to call it that since I run pretty much most of the way now.  Anyway my record prior to today was 55 minutes.  I run it in 54 today.

I know its unofficial but I did weigh in when I got back and I weighed in at 274.0.

I have been juggling the thought of adding protein supplements to my diet and training and the last two gym sessions got me concerned because it showed my how weak I am.  The bench press and curls I been doing was pretty sad.  Also when on the drive home I noticed my arms are not quite shaking but they do feel weak, so my muscles are pretty torn and from what multiple sources (friends, coworkers, and relatives) I need to take a protein supplement to heal.

I am not sure if now is the time to introduce it, but another thing I been told is you need muscle to burn fat.  The concern that there is mixed feedback from people on if it would make me gain weight or not.

So I was thinking, why the hell not.  Hey this blog will track my usage and its results.  Hey, I have been taking the Lipo 6 and it looks like it is helping.

Off to GNC I went to get some information and to by a protein drink.  While I was there I was reminded that I needed some vitamins because I was running out of the one I was taking.

After a few minutes with the GNC associate I decided on on AMP (Advanced Muscle Performance) Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60.  It was kind of pricey compared to others so I also purchased a 2lb jar of GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein.

For vitamins a purchased Mega Men Sport Premium Performance Multivitamin.

I’ll be giving the AMP a try first.  What I purchased was simply a 1 week supply.  The directions say take 3 scoops in a 12 oz glass of cold water after my workout.  But the GNC associate said its OK to take 1 scoop instead.

So on my non-gym days I will take 1 scoop after my run.

On gym days I will take 1 scoop before and 1 scoop after my workout.

I’m guessing that will last me about 2 weeks depending on if I increase my anerobic workout.

After that is all consumed, I will switch to the cheaper stuff which both my wife and I share.  When that is all gone we will decide what to use moving forward.

I quick search on the Internet showed excellent reviews for the AMP.

So I was doing some housecleaning (IT housecleaning not house housecleaning) when I came accross a simple text document dated 9/7/2007 called Weight.txt.  It is an old notepad document Pre Blog for me where I did keep a track of my weight. 

Boy was it interesting and it kind of hits me in the gut because it puts some of my weight gain in the past couple years into perspective. 

I can only assume that the first entry is Oct 20, 2005.  I weighed in at 275, which is what I am today.  So based on this time timeable, I can lose another 25 pounds in about 2 more months, that will land me early October.  Hopefully I can trim another 25 lbs by Christmas which will put me at my goal of 225 before end of year.

Couple intersting things that this data has shown…

  • Things happen that affects my schedule… sickness, birth, camping, and classes.
  • The next bogeyman is 250.  This chart never shows me breaking 250.
  • I’ve shown I can keep a record for at least 7 months.  This blog does have a lifespan of about a year.
  • Two months in I flatten out and stay flat for a month, then it starts creeping up.
  • Finally, this small text file tells a huge story but no details.   I think this blog is the way to go.
