What a busy few days

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

With the rush to get my auntie her last sight seeing tours and getting packed, it has been hard getting a workout in.

To make it worse, this evening when I went running my kneww was hurting bad.

Anyway, not worried about weight just yet because this was a late weigh in.

Another Month, Weight Loss is slowing

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Another month has passed and although I have shown improvement, the slowness of my weight loss pace is alarming.  At this rate I will not make my goal by end of year of 225.  If you take my weight loss for the last month as the rate of weight loss then I will reach 225 by June.  Not acceptable.   I am revising my end of calendar year goal to crack 230 and not be at 225.  For example, if by Christmas I reach 229 and gain a little up to 234 then I will say I have reached this milestone.

There is good news, today’s weight is not my lowest in the month, also I am going to begin seeing a nutritionist, they should be able to help me determine a proper diet.

I been off Lipo 6 for 3 days and I think I am going through a shock in my system as I feel my heart beating faster.  My doctor warned me of this last week.  I think it has been exacerbated since I have been off it for couple days.  I will begin weening myself off of it now.  Tomorrow I will take only 1 pill.

I ran 2 miles this morning, pretty good pace, I think it is a record, not sure.  My time was 24:37.50, but the thing I did notice was that my foot pain was less.  The doctor prescribed some ibuprofen and I had my first dose last night.  The prior 2 nights I have been taking indemetacin which is harder on my stomache.

Another Late Night Run

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I been really busy the past few days.  With most of the family preparing to leave and doing the last few tours of the town with my aunt, it has been hectic.  As well as unhealthy.

I still find time to work out though, albiet at a less intensity.  I ran 1 mile and walked 1 mile in the dark.  Its going to have to be like this as daylight becomes scarce.

Anyway, my weighin is reasonable again.  This will be the first time I missed my goal though.  I wanted to be 250 on next weigh in which is tomorrow.

Feeling Lazy

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

No is a critical time, I have mentioned in recent weeks that this is about the time I start giving up.

The past few days have been bad, I know I did visit the doctor Friday but my son had his birthday and pain in my foot started limiting my workout.

My wife and younger kids are leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday, and I was hoping to be 240 when they get back.  That is highly unlike now.  Furthermore, that time will really affect me training schedule.

I can’t let this bring me down though, recall a post on August 8th

http://www.lazyplayer.com/blog/?p=184

I found a file which had a short excerpt of some workouts I had, There was one time, Apr 27 and May 4 of 2007 where I mentioned my weight was creeping up.

Just like now.

Deja Vu all over again.

Missed Post for Yesterday

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

This is a late post for Saturday, I memorized the weight because this is the heaviest my scale can go without cracking 260.

It was a bad workout, I tried to run in the morning but my foot just hurt way too much and ended up doing only a 1 mile walk in the morning.  I did run 2 miles and walked 1 in the evening though.

Weight was for the morning.  I will predate this post.

Oh So Close!!!!

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Ran a 4+ today, so close to cracking 50 minutes.  My time 50:02

I know there was a light or two that I was at but so were all the other runs I did.

Oh well something to work for.

I got a Doctors Physical today.  Will post on it later.

New Toy

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

One of the things I hate is getting that protein shake down my throat.  I think it works but I feel like barfing when chugging it down.

My buddy at work, Nate, mentioned that I should get something to properly mix my drink.  He mentioned something with a strainer that will break up the clumps of protein whey.

A few weeks ago a motorized mixer came on sale on woot.com.  It was a two for Tuesday deal so I got two glasses for 14.99 + $5 for additional shipping.

Its kind of a novelty at this stage, it feels fragile and I think if I don’t immediately clean it, it will stink forever.  I’ll let you all know.  But I did try it today and it was awesome, best protein shake I have had.

Tomorrow I see the doctor for a physical and I will see what they say.  Hope she is pleasantly surprised, after this post I will put together a bunch of questions to see if I can get even healthier.  Maybe even see a nutritionist on a regular basis.

This post is relatively late.  So I am doing the weight from memory.  It is not far off though.

Rice, Rock & Roll

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

So yesterday I purchased 3 x 10lb bags of rice and placed them on my desk at work.

First Three Bags

First Three Bags

These bags of rice represent the first 30lbs of weight I lost.  Whenever I reach the decade mark (next one will be at 250), I will purchase another bag.  If all works out there will be 10 bags by June.

Speaking of June, recall that this blog ends on June 21.  That upcoming Saturday, June 26, 2010 is the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon.  Which a coworker named Stephanie and I are planning on running.

We are not running the full marathon, just the half.  So this marathon will culminate my 1 year weight loss epic saga.

As for the rice, it is food that would’ve kept me from losing those 100lbs and will go to someone that is more hungry and really needs it.

Wanted to quit running this morning

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Today is a double workout day.  Phase one is normally a 2 lap (about 2.3 miles) run.  But boy did I want to give up quickly.

  1. First off I was up late last night, I simply could not sleep.
  2. Second I was snacking late it night.
  3. Third, it was cold.
  4. Finally, it was dark.

So when I got up, I really wanted to just run 1 mile and be done with it.  I thought after the first lap I was going to be at over 15 minutes, but I was at 14:33 so I decided to proceed.   My pace picked up and I had an OK finish time of 27:34.

It confirmed two things I suspected:

  1. I am starting to want to quit, but still have will to overcome and not quit.
  2. Once my legs start warming up, I can run a decent speed.

Even after snacking last night I am still at a decent weight.  But if I am going to make my goal, I have to hit overdrive in my workout soon.
